When people asked me what this collection was about, I'd always laugh and say, my existential crisis. Looking back, I think that was the most honest answer I could've given.
Endnotes for a Beginning came from a period when I felt completely lost. Not dramatically. Just quietly, persistently unsure of myself and the direction I was headed. So I did what I always do when I don't know what else to do, I picked up my needles.
The looks came from real things. Losing my grandmother while I was on the other side of the world. The industry breaking your heart in that small, specific way it does. Standing at a crossroads and not being able to see any of the paths clearly. Learning that creativity, like certain flowers, needs long quiet periods before it blooms.
Everything is hand knitted from deadstock yarn. Heavily hand beaded. Made slowly, because the feelings behind them demanded it.
I started this collection as a lost girl. I'm ending it as someone who knows she's found. Not finished, not perfect, just finally recognisable to myself.
